Classrooms the world over are full of people who, for different reasons, are learning additional languages and/or are studying through languages that are not their first. Gaining insight into such contexts is complicated for researchers and practitioners alike by the myriad of contextual variables that come with different implementations and make comparison and generalization a tricky business. Teaching mechanical oscillations using an integrate curriculum

Abstract A set of teaching materials dealing with harmonic oscillations was developed as part of a research project investigating the influence of different pedagogical tools on physics learning. The materials incorporate simulation software and laboratory activities associated with Teacher and Student Units. The project involved research groups at seven Italian universities and the materials have been trialled in high schools nation‐wide. This paper describes the experimental protocol for the use of these materials in pilot classes and the evaluation of student learning and teacher training results. Fysiikan ja musiikin oppiaineintegraatiosta on vähän tutkimusta, vaikka oppiaineet tarjoavat lukuisia mahdollisuuksia integroinnin toteuttamiseen. Integrointi auttaa tutkitusti muodostamaan opetettavista sisällöistä arjessa sovellettavia merkityksellisiä kokonaisuuksia. Tällöin opetus valmentaa opiskelijaa paremmin elämässä tarvittaviin taitoihin. Integrointi vaatii opettajilta käytännössä paljon, ja kahden aineen sisältöjen ja aikataulujen sovittaminen yhteen on haastavaa.
